The Baracuda Instructor Training Center
The Manta Diving Center is located in Canico de Baixo, directly on the bathing resort of the Galo Resort Hotels.

 The popular diving center can be easily reached with an elevator and is managed by Stefan Maier. The diving center is the only base in the underwater national park of Madeira and only a few steps away from the domestic reef with a large number of fishes which you can discover by yourself with partner or with a guide of the diving center.

The center is furnished with up-to-date rental equipment and is maintained and checked by skilled personnel. A sufficient equipment selection is available for underwater sports. Beginners and advanced students are trained according to CMAS and PADI. There is also the possibility to achieve different brevets up to the diving instructor.
The diving center is run in a familiar and partner-orientated atmosphere. Comradeship comes first. Stefan and his crew always support their guests in word and deed. Boredom is rare, also for non-divers, as time is kept short by the entries directly at the center. Thus ideal for beginners as well as for pros. Film and photo lovers will surely have a very good time in the "healthy" underwater world.

The domestic reef
Diving at the domestic reef is an adventure. 4 different diving places can be reached via 4 timesaving entries without any problem. The great variety of species - due to the warm waters of the gulf stream and the protection of the underwater national park - can almost be compared to tropical waters. Caves and grottos, large groupers, baracudas, trigger and parrot fishes, with a little bit of luck also mantas directly at the domestic reef, make most of the guests to come back.

Boat diving tours
Boat rides to further interesting diving places nearby are regularly offered. An aluminum speedboat with 2x75 PS specially designed for divers is available

 

Accommodation

Equipment:

  • up-to-date diving equipment is maintained and checked by skilled personnel
  • 12 l and 10 l steel bottles with DIN + INT connectionß
  • small bottles for children
  • new complete equipment for at least 15 persons
  • all breathing regulators with octopus
  • equipment parts from ABC up to diving computer as well as underwater lampsn
  • renting of underwater cameras
  • emergency case with oxygen
  • separate equipment and changing rooms, freshwater showers and pool
  • 2 L&W compressors, each 450 l/min
  • Nitrox membrane installation L&W

Safety:

  • Oxygen with complete emergency equipment (Barumed and Wenoll) is available on the boat as well as in the center.

Workshop:

  • In the exemplarily furnished workshop repairs can be carried out quickly. The center personnel will support you in word and deed, should you have any problems with the equipment.

Your own diving equipment can easily be brought to the center with the elevator and remain directly there. A separate wetroom with freshwater showers is available for the divers.

Training and diving courses:

Diving courses according to Baracuda CMAS and PADI Regulations are offered.

The courses are held in small groups. This guarantees a very individual training without any stress.

The diving course starts in the pool.

Children from the age of 10 and all other interested parties are welcome to join us for a try-out at any time!

The training itself will take 4 to 5 days. The diving students will be in the water in the morning and afternoon and are introduced in groups to diving by qualified and licensed diving instructors. The practice includes pool lessons and open water diving courses. The theoretical training will be held in our new training room with most modern technique.

After passing the exam the diving student will receive an internationally accepted certificate (CMAS*). Alternatively the training is carried out according to PADI Regulations (PADI Open Water Diver).

For advanced divers the Baracuda Instructor Training Center offers a training up to the diving instructor.

Stefan is also one of a few examiners of the Baracuda association and offers training and qualification up to the diving instructors on high standards according to CMAS Regulations. Furthermore, many special courses as well as Nitrox can be trained and completed.
